9-Talk: 2032 Off-Season Rotation Review

Post by RonCo » Sun Nov 05, 2017 2:00 pm

Okay, I've been interested in podcasts/audio for some time, I had fiddled around with it earlier, but never really did much. But I finally got inspired to give it another try based on Ted's foibles. Here's my first effort, ugly as it may be. A look at the Nine's rotation situation as we go into the off-season, with a smattering of commentary on the division early and a little shade late. :)

So, if you want to hear what we're thinking about our guys (or if you just want to waste a little time), here you go.

Got about halfway in before I had to stop. I'll pick up the rest later. Let me know if you figure anything out with audio. I'm basically just winging it.

Mostly I'm playing with getting rid of noise, and some of my clicky mouth noises. :) And I need to get tons better at fades and whatnot.

And lessening the boring nature of what I have to say would be good too. :)

I always feel like the other person is carrying me. I think we're always gonna be bored by our own statements because we have already organized our thoughts to make them. Do you run into this with writing?

The great thing about writing is that (1) no one has to see anything you do unless you want them to, and (2) that means you don't have to be cool in first draft. :)

I thought you were a WAR guy? I found it odd that you dumped on Thomas and pumped up Avery...

I like WAR. :)

Thomas really struggled at times. I'm leary of relying on him to step up in class, but I do expect he can bounce back and keep with the program. Avery I'm still at odds with. He's got a much higher ceiling than Thomas, but waiting for it to some in is like pulling my eyeballs out.

Just a warning to everyone

It starts out very promisingly, lots of talk about America’s team...but then it bogs down with some talk about some irrelevant team...it picks up at the end with a mention of SLIME, some fan based group for the Sluggers (which is one more than anyone else has), and some pretty decent music...although it is difficult to believe Collins has a brother...(those Ohio types generally eat each other in the womb)

One plus is no mention of Wilson...

If you want to sit thru a half hour podcast based on the expected struggles of the pitching rotation of a .500 team - I guess this one will do

Just a tangential mention of the division winner. If that keeps up, someone will need another association.

I thought this was pretty good. It would be hard to keep listening to these though if its 100% focused on only your team and id hardly call it a league feature because of that. More of a team news.

Now as far as the podcast itself, technically I thought it was very well done. Intro and outro music was a bit loud though but that's minor.

Thanks!

I wasn't sure where to put it, to be honest. I considered TN and I'm fine with it anywhere. If I do more I want to keep them a little shorter, and probably branch out further into the league. But it was just something I threw together in an afternoon, so I needed to stay with what I knew. :)

I think this Team News through and through. Just like a post with the same topic would be team news. Good stuff though Ron :)

Right but he really only deserve 2 PP for it? It's considerably more work to put a podcast together than a standard TN, and it's nice to have the different format form an audience standpoint. Although I'm sure Ron doesn't care about the points, we're probably gonna see more podcasts as time goes on and have to figure out a better way to handle them. I was probably getting too much for them before. I don't want to start a conversation on what they are worth in this thread, just wanted to make the point. I'll bring it up with the GB.

I generally don't pay that close attention to my points...though I did this year because i knew I wanted to get a ballpark. :)

As I've said before...you guys count'em, I'll spend 'em.

I put it here because there was another post that collected our podcasts here.

I don’t mean Ron shouldn’t get extra points. I just mean it’s in the wrong spot on the forums.
