Boise Spuds 17 15 .531 DIV -3 WC -1 L10: 5-5 Strk: W3

Fans had to be braced for getting swept by Phoenix since that was the result in the first matchup of the season. But the Spuds stole one from that home series and finished out the Sim with 2 more wins to wind up sitting on a 3-game win streak.

@ Rosenblatt Bombers 5-4 W SP Mahad 'Furball' Einan (ND) - 6.1 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 0 K
RP Buddhapalita Kankipati - SV(1)
Boise came into this Sim needing a win in the opening game to avoid a sweep at the hand of the Bombers and they got it despite a blown save for lefty P Samir Qasim. Early fireworks saw the Spuds with a 4-3 lead after 4 innings. The Bombers equalized in the 7th but Boise posted the winning run in the 8th. Boise C Tadanobu Otani had a great evening going 3-4 with 2 RBI and his 2nd HR of the season.

v Phoenix Talons 5-8 L SP Thomas Turner (L) - 6.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 3 K
v Phoenix Talons 4-8 L SP Niegloslaw Woywitka (L) - 4.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 0 K
v Phoenix Talons 7-4 W SP Dan Boman (W) - 7.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 6 K
Qasim - SV(3)
The Spuds were braced for a sweep with the Talons coming to town but they fortunately took the finale. Things got away from Turner in the opener as he allowed homeruns to both RF Sergio León and 3B Mas'ud bin Salah al Din as part of his 7 hits allowed in 6.1 innings. Phoenix SP Francisco Moreno didn't have a quality outing giving up 8 hits in just 4.2 innings, but he only allowed 2 runs. Woywitka will take the 2nd game back if you please as an error from sure-handed SS Dan Raymond allowed 3 unearned runs to score. Talons 3B Salah al Din posted 3 RBI including a 3-run HR in the 5th. Boise went into the finale determined to avoid the sweep and they did largely due to the efforts of Dan Boman who allowed just 6 hits in 7 innings and 2B Fernando Segura who delivered a double and a HR for 3 RBI.

v Mexico City Aztecs 5-1 W SP Josh Clark (W) - 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K
Qasim - SV(4)
v Mexico City Aztecs 6-1 W 'Furball' Einan (W) - 7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 7 BB, 4 K
Josh Clark rebounded from a terrible outing in Rosenblatt on the 29th of April in which he gave up 5 runs in just 3 innings by allowing only 5 hits to the Aztecs in 7 innings for his 3rd win of the season. Qasim pitched a clean 1.2 innings to salt the game away. DH Perry Taylor posted a double and a HR for a couple of RBI. A nice 3-game win streak would be nice to carry into Sim #6 and the Spuds made it happen on the back of Furball who filled his part of Boise's 1-2 punch with Clark at the top of the rotation allowing just 1 hit in 7 innings. He did walk 7 in the outing but did an excellent job pitching around those free passes. RF Tsutomu Yamauchi delivered a homerun among his 3 hits on the night.
