Sim #22 (recap) was exactly the kind of Sim one would expect from Boise if Boise was ever to enjoy an undefeated Sim. Close games with no blowouts and exceptional pitching. The Spuds average margin of victory over Phoenix and Mexico City was 2.5 runs. But they did allow just 2 runs/game in this Sim while scoring a respectable 4.5.

SPUDS OF THE SIM - SIM #22

Pitcher
Image
CL Mario Santos
41 G, 2-7, 22 SV, 4.23 ERA, 44.2 IP, 1.48 WHIP, +0.3 WAR
This week's nod could have gone to the entire starting staff. P Juan Guzmán made 2 starts allowing just 3 runs and striking out 13 over 12.2 innings. SP Muneer bin Khairy went 8 innings in his one start giving up just 3 hits and 2 runs. Furball Einan one up'd him in his 8-inning outing giving up 2 runs and allowing only 1 hit. Then there's SP Doug Eckhoff who seems to have gotten off the skids in his last few starts posting a 6-inning, 1-run on 2 hits outing vs Phoenix this Sim. But Santos was locked in. He can have some frustrating stretches, note his 7 losses, but he just breezed through 5 saves in 6 games giving up no runs and only 5 hits. Then you check his 88.0% save PCT and realize "hey, he's had a really good season!".

Batter

LF Tsutomu Yamauchi
90 G, 15 2B, 3 3B, 10 HR, 42 RBI, .263/.313/.416, 2 SB, +0.6 WAR
The offense was just as good as it needed to be in Sim #22 which makes for a kind of *meh* in individual outings. LF Cosmo Pan delivered 5 RBI on 2 HRs but on pedestrian .300/.300/.600 slash. 1B José Montoya provided 2 doubles and a triple but that converted to just 3 RBI. So, sure, Yamauchi had a grand slam to boost his numbers, but he still added 2 doubles and 2 more RBI to get the nod.
