Now that's refreshing. Boise put together a nice 5-2 Sim that featured a split with Rocky Mountain and taking the first 3 of 4 from Phoenix. Pitching halted its slide just a bit. In fact, outside of allowing 12 runs twice it was quite splendid. The offense did just what was needed (again, outside of overcoming 12 runs allowed). There was quite a bit of luck involved with last-inning heroics in 3 of the 7 games. Still, the Spuds have to feel positive about wrapping up the Phoenix series at home then hosting Edmonton for four.

@ Rocky Mountain 4-12 L
@ Rocky Mountain 4-3(13) W
@ Rocky Mountain 7-12 L

Boise SP Doug Eckhoff returned to his dominant ways allowing just 1 run in 6.2 innings while CL Mario Santos continued to be, well, dominant recording his 15th save. Still, the game was knotted at 2 until the Spuds were able to get to Rocky Mountain RP Felipe 'Talk The' Vega for 2 runs in the 7th on 2 singles and a double. The next night was, um, less positive for Boise pitching as SP Marvin 'Groucho' Winston was crushed for 5 runs on 7 hits in 3 innings and RP Ed Noble continued the parade allowing 4 runs in just 0.2 of an inning. Oysters 1B Robert Chenoweth was unstoppable going 4-for-5 with 4 RBI and LF Nam-cheol U following with a 3-for-5 evening driving in 6 runs. Things reset back to some normal, competitive baseball in the third game. Rocky Mountain pushed 2 runs across in the 2nd but that's all they would manage against Boise SP Mario Reyes. Oysters SP Edgar Chávez shutout the Spuds for 7 innings, but Boise would get to his relievers to take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 9th. There, Santos suffered his first blown save of the season and the game headed to extras. It would stay knotted until the 13th when Boise 3B Robert Hooper notched a first-pitch HR off Rocky Mountain RP Ramón 'Phenom' González and Paul 'The Hammer' Cherry closed out the bottom of the inning. The finale was another offensive explosion from Rocky Mountain and all the damage was done by the end of the 5th inning. Boise SP Danny Leach only allowed 1 earned run but 5 in total and RP Ed Noble was no better in this appearances than he had been two nights before. Oysters LF Nam-cheol U had a blazing night again going 3-for-4 with 5 RBI and the series was split.

v Phoenix 6-1 W
v Phoenix 3-2(10) W
v Phoenix 4-3 W

Boise pitchers were apparently happy to get back to Idaho as they put together 3 great games against Phoenix. The offense was clutch in late innings. Boise lefty SP Matt McCartney shut down the Talons offense allowing just 1 run in 5.1 innings and SS Dan Raymond delivered 2 doubles to help put the game out of reach. In the second affair, both starters were superb. Phoenix SP Damian Theophanous shut out the Spuds for 7 innings, while Eckhoff limited Phoenix to 2 runs. Boise eventually pushed 2 runs across the plate in the 8th and the game was tied after 9. In the bottom of the 10th, Talons RP Huang Cheng allowed a leadoff double to Boise's Raymond and then the walkoff RBI single to 1B Bastião Fardos. The third game had just a brutal conclusion for the Talons. Phoenix SP Nick Rivers allowed just 1 run in 6.1 innings and the Phoenix bullpen would hold steady to take a 3-1 lead headed to the bottom of the 9th. That's where things got icky when RP Run-ming Zhu gave up a leadoff double, a single, then a 2-run double to Boise 3B Hooper. Phoenix RP Huang Cheng came in to stem the bleeding but it was too little, too late as Boise LF Sebastian 'Nino' Fradesso drove Hooper home with a line drive single down the right field baseline and the Spuds fans celebrated a 4-3 comeback, walkoff win.
