Sim #15 (recap here) was just spectacularly terrible for the Spuds offense. Already held together with duct tape and bailing wire, performing above their heads, it was an ill-timed sweep with 5 teams jostling at the top of the Frontier and the top-heavy Atlantic vacuuming up WC slots. Phoenix and Rocky Mountain are 8-2 in their last 10 with Calgary posting 7-3.

Relievers Tom Bennett and Anthony Annear made 2 appearances with the former allowing 1 run in 3 innings and the latter turning in a clean sheet over his 3 frames striking out 4. But Winston turned in an absolute gem against Jacksonville on (the slightly less scary) Friday the 12th going the distance allowing only 1 run on 4 hits with 6 Ks.

Whoo, boy...the Spuds offense had an All-Star game hangover from hell in the 4-game set in Jacksonville managing only 8 runs with 5 of those coming in the opening 5-8 loss. 2B Marcello Custello mustered up 1 double and a HR, but Karetu did the same only adding 2 RBI and scoring 3 times. The team needs to put this in the rearview ASAP.
