Sim #7 (recap here) was a nice and tidy 3-3 Sim that put Boise back atop the Frontier Division...along with 3 other teams. The Spuds dropped yet another series which ain't good, but they continue a homestand in Sim #8 so they play in the cozy confines of F. Nephi Grigg Memorial Stadium. This Sim featured some excellent outings from the offense and rotation - and the bullpen I guess.

SPUDS OF THE SIM - SIM #7

Pitcher
Image
SP Doug Eckhoff
9 G, 8 GS, 5-1, 47.0 IP, 2.68 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, +1.2 WAR
Reliever Waseem bin Suhayb deserves all the kudos as he made a whopping 4 appearances tossing 8 innings allowing only 4 hits while fanning 11, and SP Jeremy Nickerson had yet another outstanding start in this Sim piloting a 3-1 win over Calgary. But this Sim belonged to Eckhoff who spun 2 shutouts pitching a total of 13 innings allowing just 6 hits, issuing only 1 walk, and logging 9 strikeouts. He has found some magic in Boise that eluded him in Seattle and Bikini, and GM Ben Teague has reportedly told him "Whatever you're having for breakfast this season don't stop!"

Batter
Image
3B Mahine 'Dragnet' Karetu
41 G, 9 2B, 7 HR, 22 RBI, .342/.373/.535, +1.3 WAR
Picking a standout batter in Sim #7 was tough. CF Lou Bayou had 2 doubles, 1 HR, 8 RBI, and swiped a base. Three(!) players, including 1B Bastião Fardos and 2B Marcello Custello, delivered 3 HR with the latter adding a stolen base of his own and the former posting a double for good measure. But we will go with Karetu who logged 2 doubles, 3 HR, and 5 RBI for his first SotS call of the season. This means that no batter has had more than 1 tag which speaks to the spread of contributors on offense thus far.

Sim #7: P Doug Eckhoff, 3B Mahine Karetu
Sim #6: P Jeremy Nickerson, 1B Bastião Fardos
Sim #5: P Doug Eckhoff, LF Sebastian 'Nino' Fradesso
Sim #3: P Paul 'The Hammer' Cherry, CF Lou Bayou
Sim #2: P Marvin 'Groucho' Winston, LF Sebastian 'Nino' Fradesso
Sim #1: P Waseem bin Suhayb, 2B Marcello Custello

I’m glad Karetu is playing well for you. I liked him last season but ended up moving him before the year was over.
