Boise Spuds 3 3 .500 -1 GB -1 WGB L10: 3-3, Strk: W1

Welcome to 2057! After squeaking into the 2056 playoffs via play-in game, the Spuds are mostly unchanged. So it should come as no surprise that they begin the season precisely mediocre. Bosie welcomed Edmonton to usher in the new year and split a two game set. A tough 4-game series with Atlantic City was next and the Spuds split that as well. .500 will do as a start.

v Edmonton 6-3 W
v Edmonton 2-7 L
Spuds ace Logan Hill was itching to get the year underway and he posted 7 IP allowing 1 run on 5 hits while fanning 6. The human pucker-factor closer Harold Nothard managed to avoid any drama striking out 2 in the final frame to close out the win. Catcher Juan González delivered his first HR of the season. Edmonton starter Matt McCartney left the Spuds lineup's heads spinning in the finale while Boise's Geoffrey Greening had the jitters kicking off his sophomore campaign allowing 3 runs and 7 hits in just 3.2 innings.

@ Atlantic City 9-1 W
@ Atlantic City 1-4 L
@ Atlantic City 3-4(11) L
@ Atlantic City 11-8 W
Like Hill, David Molina was ready right off the start allowing 1 run on 8 hits to seal the W. Shortstop Qutuz Mahdi drove in 3 runs in contributing to the victory. The Boise offense just could not get traction against the Gambler's bullpen game in game #2 even while the Spuds' Ommar bin Ayyub went the distance but allowed the 4 runs in the 1st and 6th innings. The 3rd contest was a better pitching matchup than it would appear with Atlantic City scoring 3 to open the game and Boise responding with 3 of their own in the 6th. Everything came down to a walkoff in the bottom of the 10th delivered by a double from Atlantic City's CF Kevin Myers on Nothard. Ok, the Spuds have officially played their first shootout and, thankfully, they came out smiling. SP Logan Hill allowed 3 runs in his 2nd start and RP Toshikuni Kubo allowed 3 of his own in relief. But the Spuds offense registered 5 doubles and 1B Bastião Fardos, RF Cinema Jones, SS Mahdi, and 3B Gary Allen each delivered at least 2 RBI.
