Well that was unexpected. Boise tossed a 3-game set at home vs Phoenix then went down to Mexico City and swept the Aztecs in 4 games. That tossed the apple cart in the JL Wild Card race with Boise holding the last WC looking up 1.5 games to Jacksonville and leading Montreal by 2.5 games. The Sim, recapped here, was a mixture of blowouts and close games.

Greening goes on and on and on overperforming his experience. He had 2 starts this Sim beginning with the opener vs Phoenix. He fanned 7 Talons in 5 innings and allowed only 1 run. It was a disappointing no decision. He took the hill in Mexico City on the 17th where he again struck out 7 and allowed only 1 run this time in 6 innings. For Sim #20, Greening threw 11 innings fanning 14 and allowing only 2 runs.

Allen and 1B Alfonso Rúbio are stepping up in the absence of 1B Bastião Fardos who is out for the year. Allen gets the nod for Sim #20 off a stellar slash of .391/.417/.739 with 2 2B, 2 HR, and 8 RBI. He struck out only 8.3% of his plate appearances during the Sim and is currently playing at a 125 wRC+ pace.
