Boise Spuds 40 24 .625 3.5 GB L10: 4-6 Strk: L2

Boise played with jitters this Sim splitting a 4-game series at division foe Rocky Mountain and losing a series in Edmonton. First you have to go to Edmonton, then you lose in Edmonton...that hurts twice. Speaking of hurting, the Spuds lost TWO players for the rest of the season during Sim #10. But everyone is still kind of numb over losing David Molina and now 2 more players are down. Needless to say, morale is slumping and it shows as the Spuds are getting farther away from division leader Mexico City.

@ Rocky Mountain 1-2 L
@ Rocky Mountain 2-1(10) W
@ Rocky Mountain 14-3 W
@ Rocky Mountain 1-9 L

This was a critical series as the Spuds are fading below Mexico City and fending off 3rd place Rocky Mountain. Then the terrain was completely flipped on Boise in the 3rd contest. The series started with a true, throwback pitchers' duel. Spuds starter Ommar bin Ayyub was excellent going 7.1 innings allowing only 2 runs in the 8th. But those 2 runs would hold up as Rocky Mountain's Chris Thompson was just a bit better handing bin Ayyub a 1-run loss. The next game was an even better pitchers' duel than the first. SP Logan Hill was superb allowing 1 run on 6 hits in 7 innings. Superstar closer Harold Nothard allowed Hill's inherited runner to score and the game would go to extras. Oddly, Nothard pitched all 3 remaining innings and earned the W with the Spuds scoring the winning run in the 10th.
The 3rd game will live on in infamy this season. Boise jumped on the Oysters' pitching late in the game scoring 12 runs in the 6th thru 8th inning. It ended up a 14-3 win for the Spuds but it was a costly victory as starting pitcher Daniel Camacho came off the mound in the 3rd due to what was later diagnosed to be a torn UCL and utility man Xinpeng Zhào suffered an off the field concussion. Both men will miss the remainder of the season. Perhaps the team took the news too hard as Rocky Mountain split the series with a 9-1 win the following evening in which they scored 3 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, and 2 in the 4th.

@ Edmonton 2-1 W
@ Edmonton 3-4(11) L
@ Edmonton 1-7 L

The team next traveled to Edmonton for a 3-game series vs the Jackrabbits. The first was another pitchers' duel, this seems to be the Spuds MO, as Boise scored 2 in the 1st inning and not another run. It wasn't needed as the Spuds' Mauro Mendoza tossed 6.2 innings of shutout ball allowing only 5 hits. The next game was yet another tight affair but fun for Jackrabbits fans as the team scored in the bottom of the 9th inning to tie the game, then walked it off in the 11th. DH Gonzalo Martínez got the credit for the walkoff while Boise's Nothard blew the save and lefty Pete Bonaddio was saddled with the loss.
