In a move that no one predicted the Boise spuds have hired Ben Teague as General Manager. Not only are fans wary of Teague's history, they had no idea the previous GM was in danger of being sacked. Spuds owner Francis Nephi Grigg IV had this to say in a short conference:
"Honestly? This surprised us, too. I had a beef with the previous GM and it wasn't healing. Yes, we're second in our division. We've had a lot of success lately and much of that has been a product of the previous staff's work. That being said, I would like to introduce our new GM, Ben Teague. Mr. Teague has a plenty of experience at every level of the BBA. We're counting on him bringing that to the table. Yes, the results in his past are worrisome, but Boise is in a unique spot: an astronomical market with established, veteran players along with a minor league system that is young and talented. We're going to give Teague all the time and resources to keep Boise going strong and reward our fans for their loyalty."
GM Ben Teague had this comment and didn't take any questions:
"To say I'm glad this opportunity fell to me is an understatement. I need a lot of redemption, which is a need that turns into effort. Win or lose, this team will be one with championship caliber. There's a lot I could say here in the press conference but I'm tired of talking about my W/L record. It's time to do the work. It's time that Boise becomes a menace to the Johnson league and, in particular, the Frontier Division. We're here to win. I'm also very happy I was hired by a team in the Johnson League which actually means something. While an opportunity in the FL was offered to me, I decided on Boise instead. I just dislike the FL and I've made no secret about that. Boise will bring an entertaining product to the diamond and I look forward to interacting with the loyal Spuds fans."
