Tater Talk: 2042.021 – Boise Farmhands Named MiL All-Stars

Image As the 2042 season rolls along, the top three levels of the Brewster Baseball Association's minor leagues recently held their respective All-Star Games, with seven prospects from the Boise organization voted to the honor.

In the BBA's Triple-A Rupert Horn Memorial League, the Salt Lake City Alpines sent 1B José Hernández and 3B Susumu Nakanishi to the Mid-Summer Classic to represent the Roundfield League. Hernandez came into the seventh inning as a substitute but did not see an at-bat. Nakanishi played the entire game at shortstop, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. The Roundfield League defeated the Granville League to the score of 10-5.

Over in the Warren Cox League (Double-A), the Donaldo League roster featured two Weymouth Irish players C Pat Alexander and 3B Arnel Victorio. Alexander saw playing time starting in the fifth inning as the designated hitter and he went 1-for-2 on the day with one strikeout. Victorio also debuted in the fifth, pinch-hitting and going 0-for-1 with a walk. Victorio would play four innings at third before being removed in the ninth inning. In a close game, the Donaldo League fell to the Drake League, 5-4.

The Charley Pegler League, the BBA's Single-A level, the Tulsa Ginzels of the Baxter League were represented by veterans 1B Kevyn Kerry, DH Cisco Júlio and RP Kevin Creelman. Creelman started the game for the Pegler League, pitching one scoreless inning while tallying up a strikeout and a walk. Kerry started the game in right field, then moved over to left before being lifted for his teammate Julio, who pinch hit for Kerry in the eight inning. Kerry went 1-for-2 with an RBI single and Julio drew a walk in his only at-bat. It wasn't enough for the Baxter League, who dropped the game 8-5 to the Provost League.

The Angela Drake League (Short-A) just started their All-Star voting process and rosters will be announced in the following weeks prior to the July 5 game. Down in Rookie Ball, the voting is about to conclude as the Spike Nolan League All-Star Game will be held in two weeks on June 30.

Which will come first: Kevyn Kerry returning to AA, or Kevyn Kerry applying for Social Security?

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
