Tater Talk: 2042.017 – Boise Announces Cinco De Mayo Promotion
Despite spending May 5th on the road in Atlantic City next week, the Boise Spuds will be celebrating the Cinco de Mayo holiday and honoring the country and League's Mexican culture and heritage by playing in special road uniforms. Additionally, the team will undertake a temporary name change to the Papas Fritas, the Latin-American equivalent of 'French fries'.
The team unveiled the special one-time uniforms in a press conference today. The away uniform is light grey with the wordmark on the chest, along with red and gold piping down the center of the jersey and sleeve hem. The hat is brown with a red bill and yellow eyelets, adorned with the new logo. The logo is a smiling box of french fries throwing a baseball with the shape of the state of Idaho making up part of the eyes. The workmark on the jersey is spelled out in cartoon french fries and the sleeve of each jersey will feature the occasion's corporate sponsor, Ore-Ida, the popular potato-based frozen food brand founded by F. Nephi Grigg, the great-grandfather of Spuds owner Francis Nephi Grigg IV.
"The Mexican-American community has meant a great deal to not only the Boise Spuds organization, but my great-grandfather's company, Ore-Ida," Grigg IV told reporters. "Our own roster has a battery featuring Mexican-Americans with Pancho Germán and José Rivera."
In conclusion of the May 5th game, all 27 worn uniforms from the game will be autographed by the respective player and auctioned off on the Boise Spuds website, with 100% of proceeds going to charity.

Clearly you've never had them with our ancho and chipotle mole dipping sauce, available at select Grigg Memorial Stadium concession stands now!HoosierVic wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 1:06 pmNothing says Mexican tradition like … uh … French fries ...
