GM Joe Lederer said the decision to non-tender the group of players was "fairly easy," however Lederer was quoted in regards to Holguín that "he really stepped up during his time up in Boise and we'll possibly look to bring him back in a similar role, if possible." Holguín spent the better part of the last two seasons as a platoon left fielder, putting up a combined .764 OPS, including a .290/.375/.426 slash line against right-handed pitchers in 2040. It is believed the failure to extend an offer to Holguín is due to prospect left fielder Ricardo Ruíz, who is expected to take over the position at some point in 2041.

With arbitration hearings in the team's rear view, Lederer turns his attention to free agency. It is expected Boise is targeting several players and hope to land a few impact free agents with just over $50M available to spend.
