Tater Talk: 2040.24 – With Talent Thinning Out, Boise Sign Hair
If one were to brush over the Brewster daily transaction logs, a recent move by Boise may have gone unnoticed. On September 6, the Spuds signed recent chopping-block casualty Drew Hair to a major-league deal that will run through 2041.
Hair, the opening day starter at first base for the California Crusaders, struggled in his fifth season with the BBA club, seeing his numbers recede to just .194/.232/.215 and finding himself on the fringes of the 27-man roster. However, while demoted down to AAA Clash City, Hair started to scalp opposing pitchers again, hitting .302/.392/.601 in 308 at-bats.
"With our sights already set on 2041, we're looking to improve this roster any way possible," Boise general manager Joe Lederer told the media. "We've been combing over the waiver wire and when Drew was cut loose, we acted quickly. He's got a great head on his shoulders and we believe there's still some bangs left in his bat."
Hair, who will make $1.25M in 2041, will want to recapture his Crusader production from the past if he wants any type of extension beyond 2041. Hair had an OPS+ of 130 in 451 at-bats last year and Boise fans hope to see similar results next year. The deadline acquisition of Quant Kouros by California made cutting ties with Hair an easy decision for the Crusader front office.

The story in the BBA "newspaper" quotes Spuds officials calling the signing of Hair "an integral piece to our championship puzzle."

Well, that was taken out of context. The unnamed official was talking about our Triple-A team in 2041...HoosierVic wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 12:53 pmThe story in the BBA "newspaper" quotes Spuds officials calling the signing of Hair "an integral piece to our championship puzzle."

I found 11 ... assume you're counting "extension" as one of them ... 12 is proving as elusive as a donkeagle.

The fact they are absolutely awful and you still found 11, that's worthy of the prize. Use DASHANDDAN50 at check-out for your discount.HoosierVic wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 1:59 pmI found 11 ... assume you're counting "extension" as one of them ... 12 is proving as elusive as a donkeagle.

Hair is your prototypical mullet-type player... looks great up front, but terrible upon reflection.

#12 was not in the body of the story ... it was like an outsize dandruff flake sitting on top.
