NEWS AND NOTES: Boise was dealt with bad news on April 2, learning that Hank Brewer suffered a set-back during his rehab from an intercostal strain suffered on March 21...Brewer is now expected to return at the end of April...José Rivera, starting in Brewer's place, had a great April last year as starting catcher and has continued the same hot start this season, hitting four doubles en route to a .471/.550/.706 slash line...rookies Félix Román (182/.308/.409) and Motonobu Yamashita (.227/.280/.409) didn't fare as well in their debuts...Boise starting pitchers ranked 15 out of 16 teams in ERA, with team ace Pancho Germán going 0-2 out the gate with a horrid 15.63 ERA and 2.68 WHIP in 6⅓ innings

DOWN ON THE FARM: For the start of the 2040 season, the Boise farm system was ranked #4 in the Brewster by the Baseball News Network...the Spuds had five players ranked in the top 100 prospects: Félix Román (#8), Carlos Díaz (#17), Jorge Maestas (#50), Motonobu Yamashita (#62) and Robin Cooper (#64)...Salt Lake City (AAA) started the year season going 3-3, fueled by the bats of Vince Osborn (3 HR, 8 RBI) and Ricardo Ruíz (2 HR, 6 RBI)...the Weymouth Irish (AA) kicked off their inaugural season going 4-2, led by the pitching of Seitaro Ugaki, who went 2-0 with 13 K in 12⅔ IP...Tulsa (A) went 3-3 to open the 2040 Single A season...Ramón Miranda flashed his tools for the Ginzels, knocking three home runs to go with four stolen bases and a slash line of .462/.517/.885

He's actually available for the upcoming sim...so only out for a dozen games, not a big deal. (And shouldn't come as a surprise with his health rating.)
