In 2038, Boise centerfielder Dennis French was having a remarkable All-Star season, slashing .369/.410/.599 with over 20 stolen bases and flashing plus-defense before suffering a season-ending fractured finger injury on August 10th. French ended up leading the league in batting average and OPS at just 21 years old, making him one of many of the league's most recent young phenoms.
Entering 2039 and fully healthy, all eyes were on the Spuds superstar to see what he could do for an encore and for his team and the Boise fans, French did not disappoint. French finished the year with a .352/.397/.596 stat line and continued stellar defense, good enough to league the entire Brewster with an 8.3 WAR. French set career-highs in every single counting stat, including slugging 33 home runs, stealing 49 bases and leading the Frick League with 129 runs scored. For his reward, French was named the Frick League Sawyer Silk Award for best offensive player, narrowly ending out Angel Zalapa of Valencia.
