GAME OF THE WEEK: Boise took two of three from second-place Seattle, thanks to a come-from-behind win in the final game of the series and the opening game of the week. The 6-4 win against the Storm on August 11th was a total team effort, led by third baseman Pedro Nava who went 3-for-4 with a grand slam. Reliever Bill Pidduck pitched the final 2⅔ innings for his ninth save on the year, allowing just one hit.

NEWS AND NOTES: The Spuds' fantastic August has been fueled by some impressive offensive showings: MacHugh (1.390 OPS in August), Yunosuke Terada (1.236), Nava (1.119), Alfredo Salazar (1.021) and Dennis French (1.017)...Pancho Germán is tied for the Frick League lead in wins (14) after a seven-inning, two-hit performance against Madison on August 16th...general manager Joe Lederer credits the team's improved play over the last three weeks to manager Barrett Callahan..."To be honest, I had a death grip on this club since the day I arrived," Lederer told reporters. "In late July, Cally told me that I needed to place my faith in him and the coaching staff and he was right. I've allowed him to make all the decisions when it comes to the lineup and bullpen. I thought I had it figured out but that's not my role and Cally has really done a great job. I'm to provide him with the necessary players we need to win and Cally is to manage them to achieve those wins and he's done just that."...with the trade deadline two weeks away, Lederer has decisions to make whether or not the Spuds will be buyers, sellers or stay the course in order to make the playoffs
DOWN ON THE FARM: Salt Lake City (AAA) dropped their first game of the week, then have won five straight...the Alpines remain in 4th place in the Western Division...Naomichi Harada collected two saves during the week and is tied for fourth in AAA with 25 saves...Buffalo (AA) went 2-4 to drop below .500 for the year (58-59)...Félix Román had just six hits during the week, but five were home runs, raising his Triple-A slash line to .305/.397/.668 in 62 games...between AA and AAA this year, Román is hitting .297 with 40 HR and 82 RBI...Tulsa (A) went 2-2 in a short week and remain in last place in the division with a 51-66 mark...Hot Springs's (Short A) 3-3 record kept the Majestics at an even 25-25 on the year, good enough for second-place in the Mainland Division...Tijuana (Rookie) went 4-2 to improve to 26-23
