GAME OF THE WEEK: Thanks to late-inning dramatics, Boise knocked off Pacific Division-leading San Fernando 4-3 on July 18th. Starting pitcher Maxence Mace, amidst trade rumors, allowing just two runs in seven innings, leaving the game with a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately, Bill Pidduck coughed up the lead in the 8th inning, allowing Luis Maldonado to score from second on a two-out single by Pedro Garza. With one out in the bottom of the 9th, manager Barrett Callahan called back Norm Smith from the on-deck circle and sent in veteran Alfredo Salazar to pinch hit. With the count 0-2, "Savage" deposited a slider over the right field wall for a walk-off homer.

NEWS AND NOTES: Boise made its biggest trade under first-year general manager Joe Lederer, acquiring popular but struggling closer Timofei Bakitski for two prospects...Bakitski allowed only two hits in his first three appearances for the Spuds, unfortunately both were solo home runs...since June 20th, Chávez has thrown 24⅓ innings in 11 appearances, going 4-0 with a 1.85 ERA and 0.86 WHIP...starting all seven games since being recalled, Pedro Holguín slashed .280/.455/.400...Ken Gerhart III has cleared waivers after being designated for assignment to make room for Holguín...sources claim Holguín expressed his displeasure from being removed from the active roster and may be considering refusing to be demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake City...if that is the case, Boise will either have to find a trade partner for Holguín, return him back to the active roster or release the veteran outfielder
