Tater Talk: 2039.37 – Week in Review, 7/7-7/13

Image WEEK IN REVIEW (2-2): Due to the All-Star break, Boise only had four games on the docket with the Spuds splitting the series. With the two wins and losses, Boise remains three games under .500, currently at 44-47 and 3½ games out of first place in the Frontier League. In the All-Star Game, Boise had two representatives, CF Dennis French and SP Pancho Germán. French was voted in and lead-off for the Frick League, reaching base twice with a walk and catcher's interference and scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, which turned out all the Frick League All-Stars needed, as they cruised to a 3-0 win over the Johnson League. Germán was named to his first All-Star team by the manager but did not appear in the game.

ORE-IDA® TATER-TOTS EMOJI SUMMARY OF THE WEEK: 🌟🇫🇷 🌟🇩🇪

HITTER OF THE WEEK: Ramón Vela - 4-for-15, 1 HR, 3 R, 1 RBI (.267 AVG, .368 OBP)

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Tomás Chávez - 1 W, 1 Hold, 4⅔ IP, 4 K, 0 BB (1.93 ERA)

GAME OF THE WEEK: On July 7th, in the last game before the All-Star break, Boise defeated Madison and former Spuds pitcher Maxim Makin, 3-2. Germán, who learned of his All-Star selection just hours before the game, pitched like one of the league's best, allowing only two runs in six quality innings and earning his 11th win of the year. With the game knotted at 2-2, Alfredo Salazar hit a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run, allowing Bill Pidduck and Douglas van Osch to provide three shutout innings out of the bullpen.

NEWS AND NOTES: Through the All-Star break, the Spuds are on pace to win 78 games, a four-game improvement from last season and would set a team-record in Boise's short five-year history...according to sources, after an 8-5 win over Wichita on July 11th, back-up catcher Allan MacHugh expressed his frustration to manager Barrett Callahan about his lack of playing time...MacHugh, who signed to a minor league deal on May 8th, has appeared in only 11 games between Boise and Triple-A Salt Lake City

DOWN ON THE FARM: Salt Lake City (AAA) continued to have a disappointing season, going 2-4 during the week and remain in the cellar of the Western Division standings...Frank Metcalf, in the midst of a fine season in AA, has been called up to Salt Lake City and will replace António Lara in the Alpines rotation...Lara, after a few rough starts, was demoted back to Buffalo (AA) to work on his pitching as a two-way experiment...after dropping two games to start the week, Buffalo has reeled off four straight victories to end the week...Buffalo is now 45-42 and a distant second-place in the Colonial Division...after two-and-a-half seasons in Tulsa (A), Emílio Baca has been promoted to Double-A...Baca, 21, has been penciled into the Bisons' lineup at as their designated hitter...Shu-yaan Goei will be the starting shortstop for the next few weeks in Buffalo after Motonobu Yamashita, Boise's #2 prospect, suffered a sprained shoulder on July 13th...Tulsa went 2-4 during the week and remain in last place in the Gulf Coast Division...Hot Springs (Short Season) went 5-2 to up their record to 14-9, good for second-place in the division...despite losing four of seven, Tijuana (Rookie) keeps a 12-11 winning record, only two games back of the Mexican-American division lead

Personal dissatisfaction...an excellent emoji run... and catcher's interference.

I do believe you've written the perfect TN.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
