Tater Talk: 2039.31 – Week in Review, 6/3-6/9

Image WEEK IN REVIEW (3-3): After a few rocky weeks, the Spuds played .500 ball during a six-game road trip at Edmonton and Twin Cities. After consecutive weeks of poor pitching, Boise arms stabilized during the week, giving up a much-improved 3.7 runs per game. Thanks to a four-game losing streak by Seattle, Boise jumped back into 2nd place of the Frontier Division and find themselves two games back in the Wild Card standings.

ORE-IDA® TATER-TOTS EMOJI SUMMARY OF THE WEEK: 🆒🧘🏻‍♂️🥈

HITTER OF THE WEEK: Dennis French - 11-for-28, 6 XBH, 9 R (.393 AVG, .679 SLG)

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Pancho Germán - 1-0, 8⅓ IP, 2 ER, 5 K, 0 BB, season-high 12 groundouts

GAME OF THE WEEK: Boise broke out the bats and Egbert Behner was on his game in a 15-2 thumping on June 7th at Twin Cities. Down 2-1 heading into the top of the third, Spuds had five runners cross the plate in their half of the inning, thanks to Yunosuke Terada's first of two homers on the day. French and Alfredo Salazar also chipped in with long balls and Behner pitched into the 9th inning before Tomás Chávez got the final two outs of the game.

NEWS AND NOTES: After a shuffling of the batting order, French (1.295 OPS), Terada (1.247), and Salazar (1.462) all had big weeks at the plate...Boise has signed all but one of their twenty 2039 draft picks, including first-rounder Robin Cooper...the team is currently in negotiations with second-round pick Martin Román, who is committed to playing ball in college unless his signing bonus demands -- rumored to be in excess of $3M -- are met prior to the July 31st deadline...despite only one blown save in eight opportunities, manager Barrett Callahan has decided to remove rookie Tom Warren from the closer role, citing his struggle with control (5.8 BB/9) as the reason for his poor season numbers (1-3, 6.88 ERA, 1.65 WHIP)...taking over as closer will be a familiar face, as Dave Walsh, last year's closer, will leave the rotation and rejoin the bullpen...for the year as a opener, Walsh has gone 4-3 with a 4.78 ERA...replacing Walsh's spot in the rotation will be António Sánchez, who seems fully recovered from a strained oblique suffered in late April

DOWN ON THE FARM: Salt Lake City (AAA) dropped two of six and remain in last place in the Western Division...Buffalo (AA) went 4-2 during the week to inch closer back to .500 (28-33)......Boise's top prospect, Félix Román, started his Double A career off slow, going 0-for-12 but finished the week 2-for-6 with a HR and a pair of walks...Sandro Plumey landed on the injured list with a strained rotator cuff and will likely be out of action for several weeks...Tulsa (A) managed only two wins during the week, dropping them to 3rd in the division with a 31-31 record..the following prospects were named to their respective leagues' All-Star rosters: Salt Lake City's Jim Des Jardien, Buffalo's Frank Metcalf, and Tulsa's Masamichi Kubo and Alfonso Jaramillo...Félix Román would have likely been a starter for the Charley Pegler League (A) All-Star Game if not for a promotion to AA last week
