Boise 2038.10: Apologizes to the League to an Extent

Post by Bumstead » Wed May 01, 2019 9:09 am

Guys

I want to apologize for being a bit over the top last night. I do feel strongly about the "gaming the game" type of OOTP play. It's a real pet peeve of mine. I realize when one starts competing with GM's that are very experienced and very thorough in their analysis that sometimes we can find ways to gain advantages through the programming versus just playing the video game and competing strictly against the other GM's. We want to find that little edge to get past all these really competitive and talented GM's. It's a whole different way of competing in OOTP that ruffles my feathers and then I start prancing around and hopping sideways and making weird noises...I'm sorry for that.

I'm also sorry for the "goat boy" comment as I guess it probably wasn't used as a "term of endearment." I'm also upset that the league has lost a really good GM in Kyle. He adds a lot to the league in my opinion. Plus he's a little aggro and distracts from me a bit...but, that's not why it's a loss. I also want to be clear that I welcome the new GM's and my feelings about Kyle and replacing him in a quick manner are not in any way directed at Vic or any other new GM. I really hope y'all enjoy the league and down the line you will find that not only am I not like this all the time, but that the league has some terrific analysis and a lot of fun and the obvious competition. This league will teach you a lot and I hope you enjoy the league and stick around.

So, I deleted my TN from last night as it was inappropriate and...well...that says it all I guess.

So, forgive me for getting all fired up. I keep working at improving myself, but I'm still not much for being PC and I tend to over-say my opinions (which I state as facts). I really hate the 2 option contracts and I really hate the league losing Kyle as a GM.

Thank you for "listening."

We have all snapped from time to time, it happens. No hard feelings and move on for all parties.

Here's the thing - I'm still going to just lay low here for a couple of days and not post in the Huntsville forum or make any moves with the team (beyond exporting) until it's abundantly clear that Kyle's not coming back. I'm a little unhappy that I got plunged into the middle of league drama here - I was not angling to leave the UMEBA. Quite the opposite, in fact.

I'm a little distracted on the fake baseball front right now, anyway - I've got a team in another league (PEBA) that's a game away from their World Series, which means my OOTP needs are more than accounted for.

So, no worries. It'll cost me nothing to go slow, and if Kyle, Matt, et al, decide they made a hasty move, it can be undone with a minimum of fuss. I can even see a TN scenario where the former Mumbai GM slinks back to his old job after being reminded by ownership that he's under contract ...

Ooohhh...the PEBA...I've never been in that one. FYI, I have since communicated with Kyle and he appears steadfast in his moving on. If I were you, I would win the PEBA and plunge forward with Huntsville. From my perspective, you had no role in my dispute and I really hope you enjoy the league.

Thanks, Jeff. Losing a high-quality GM like Kyle is always a blow. He's always welcome back if he chooses to do so.

Vic's response is worthy...though my guess is that Kyle's made his mind up.

As one who I'm sure fits your "game-the-game" comment, I'm always happy to chat about that in PM or in person. Bottom line, though...FWIW, I've always made it a habit to talk about what I do, to the extent I feel my NDA allows me, specifically because I want to limit the advantage my knowledge of the game gives me. I've spoken to Brett S. and others at times, and am happy to do so again.

Re: PEBA, I'm trying like hell. I'm leading the league championship 3-2, and the deciding game(s) will be simmed today ... so ... yikes. PEBA series, hopefully, would start tomorrow ...

If, following Thursday's BBA sim there's no movement with Kyle, I'm move forward. But I hate like hell there were hard feelings - as I've said before, this should be fun.
