Personally... I'm trying to not get too bummed about my one of my favorite player's ratings completely crashing. Since I don't how real it is...

2B Xue-Qin Man

Last season he was a 9 Contact - 9 Gap, excellent #2 hitter.

Now he's 6 Contact - 7 Gap... right after I signed him to a 6 year extension at around $12+ Million per year.

He's still having a nice season, though it's still a little drop off. But 27 years old seems a bit young to start lumping. But I don't know how much of it is real... is it from the relative stats or is he really starting to drop off.

This might be a hard lesson to learn about signing late 20 guys to long term extensions. I'm still a bit new to OOTP. I was torn about keeping him and Wareham... but it's just a game and part of the process is learning these lessons.

Personally, I like the relative ratings... especially since I can change the "Relative to" when I'm looking at the UMEBA or the minors. But it's been a shock to see the carnage to some of my guys.
I think that's a legitimate lump. 9 con shouldn't have ended up 6.
I know not all 9s are equal, but gillstrom was a 9 CON pre conversion and is still a 9 so I'm pretty sure man is lumping to some degree.

All 9s are definitely not equal. If I had to make a bet I'd put a small lunch on some light lumping, but I wouldn't be very sure of the odds I was going to win. OOTP is odd sometimes.

As several others have said shit is shit no-matter how nicely you dress it up with big numbers to describe how bad it stinks. My players are replacement level whether you call them 5, 6 or 7 so I don't really care.

But I am a great fan of the relative ratings, I feel that by togging them back and fore between the levels I can get a real read on where the players belong
