2036.2 Calling up some prospects

Claudio Perez

My first move was to get the travelling secretary on the phone to arrange a first class Greyhound bus ticket departing Salt Lake City for Boise. We'll be moving on from Don Logan behind the plate due to his expiring contract. It's time for Perez to finish out the season and get a head start on locking up the starting job for the 2037 season. He should be an offensive and defensive upgrade at the position, but anything he does with the bat will be gravy. We're looking for a catcher that can command the pitching staff and provide a strong defensive presence behind the plate.

Carlos Munoz

Munoz has spent the majority of the year in AAA, but he's been in the bigs for the last month. He's a bring presence at first base and in the clubhouse. At 21 years of age and standing 6'6", he's still getting comfortable in his body. His swing is coming along, with the expectation that he develops above average contact and power. He'll make pitchers work, grinding out at bats and taking his fair share of walks. More important is the leadership he'll provide. Despite his young age, players already look up to him and listen when he speaks. If he continues to progress, there will be a C on his jersey before too long.

Munoz could be a core player for a long time.
