The Boise Spuds have been born. In a non-shocker move, Francis Nephi Grigg IV has decided to settle the expansion franchise he was awarded in Boise, Id. Boise and more specifically the 5 county area surrounding Boise known as Treasure Valley is home to nearly 3/4 of a million residents. The immediate population is probably a bit on the low end of acceptable fan base size but being able to draw from a monster region that contains no other major league level BBA team will surely be a boon to the new franchise.
In an actual shock move, the newly anointed BBA owner immediately took a shot at the long time BBA city of Des Moines. In an interview with local Boise TV station about the new team, Mr. Grigg explained that he hoped to build a team worthy of the fandom that will surely be displayed in the Northern Great Plains region and he especially wanted to welcome the state of Iowa with open arms. On camera and proudly displaying the new uniform of the expansion franchise, Mr. Grigg issued the following statement.
"I understand the great people of Iowa have a deep and passionate baseball history. I hope to build a team here in Boise that will proudly uphold the midwestern work ethic this area of the US is known for. I understand there is technically a BBA franchise in Des Moines but lets be serious, they havent been relevant since 2009. I was a 19 year old in college the last time they mattered. I grew up a Kernel fan. I loved that team. That team has let down its proud fan base time and time again. Its time for something new and exciting. Its time to win. I aim to win."
