The prologue to a piece of work can serve many purposes. Most always there is some plot exposition. Setting the stage, so to speak. It can also establish the tone of the story and can be used as a "jumping off point" for consumers to judge the style of the storyteller and decide they aren't interested in the remainder of the work. In that sense, April is the perfect prologue to the Spuds 2063 season. By Sim #4 the fans can jump on or off the bandwagon and decide if they are interested in the remainder of the season. Plot exposition comes naturally as does enthusiasm for the rest of the story, so Boise will create the plot exposition before the end of the month that will set the stage for the remainder of the year. Let's take a look...

Sim #2 will be comprised of a series in Phoenix, the preseason favorites to take the Frontier and one in Mexico which is the team tagged for last in the division. The first series will be doubly hard in being on the road and against Phoenix. It's a hold your breath moment as the month begins to unfold. The 2nd will test the Spuds on the road but against lesser competition. But the Sim ends with the beginning of a series in Calgary who is always contending for the top of the division.

That makes Sim #3 more of a make or break in the sense that if Boise can weather the road series north of the border, they come back home to face their nemesis Las Vegas. It's always difficult for the Spuds to handle the Hustlers, but at least the first test is at The Grigg. Then Austin comes to town and they are almost expected to be the breakpoint between division contenders and pretenders.

Sim #4 sees the last of the Austin series and a trip to San Antonio against whom the Spuds just won a home series 2-1. San Antonio and Rosenblatt are company for Boise in the bottom half of the division predictions with both series on the road.

That pretty much sets the bar for the season with a balance of competition and road series challenges. April certainly won't determine if the Spuds ultimate contend for the division title or a wild card, but it will color season expectations and plans for Spuds GM Ben Teague.
