Boise GM Ben Teague has rightly been focused on turning the Spuds pitching back around, but the Spuds have to put more runs on the board, too, if any successful changes are going to lead to the postseason. Thankfully, the Spuds already showed some "mash" as a wise man once put it.
SPUDS OF SPRING TRAINING - HITTERS HALFWAY MARK

27yo RF Tsutomu Yamauchi
20 G, 3 2B, 4 HR, 12 RBI, .400/.405/.775, 1.180 OPS
The kind of "mashing" Boise does, if any, is more of a mix of gap power generating RBI with a healthy dose of some pop. Yamauchi played 150 games last year piling up 35 doubles and driving in 86 runs while posting a .770 OPS. He looks to be ready to jump right in that depth of the pool and, perhaps, deeper.

28yo 1B Tracy 'Jigga' Allison
19 G, 1 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, .436/.463/.769, 1.233 OPS, 9 SB
Allison seems prepped to pickup where he left off...as he always does. The more significant impact here was that #1 prospect William Coleman got his swings in and can comfortably fill out in AAA for however long is necessary.

24yo C Tadanobu Otani
16 G, 2 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, .267/.343/.667, 1.010 OPS
At this point, just recognize that Otani is a very good catcher. At his age, he still has some defense to fill in but he's becoming a predictable factor for the Spuds which, when you are talking about the catching position, is a huge plus!

26yo 2B Fernando Segura
20 G, 5 2B, 5 HR, 8 RBI, .296/.333/.667, 1.000 OPS
The topic of Segura holding down second base has been covered almost ad nauseum. It's time to see it happen...
