Tater Talk: 2039.47 – Week in Review, 9/8-9/14

Image WEEK IN REVIEW (2-5): A gut punch (or death blow, depending on who you ask) of a week started with Boise jumping out of the gate to win the first two games of the week and extend a winning streak to four games. Then the Spuds encountered a famine, losing the next five to finish the week 2-5, dropping a season-low seven games below .500. With just 13 games left in the regular season, Boise is all but mathematically eliminated from the Frick Wild Card race, 5½ games back of Valencia and Edmonton, who are tied for the final playoff spot.

ORE-IDA® TATER-TOTS EMOJI SUMMARY OF THE WEEK: 🏳️ 🏳️ 🏳️

HITTERS OF THE WEEK: Dennis French - 14-for-28, 2 HR, 7 R (.500 AVG, 1.298 OPS)

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Pancho Germán - 1-0, 14 IP, 12 K, 4 BB (3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP)

GAME OF THE WEEK: On September 9th, Boise won 4-1 to take the first of a three-game series against the Phoenix Talons, owners of the best record in all of the Brewster. Pancho Germán allowed just one run in seven innings before turning the last two innings to reliever Timofei Bakitski, who struck out five batters en route to facing the minimum in the 8th and 9th. The offense was fueled by the top of the Boise line-up, with leadoff man Pedro Holguín and Dennis French hitting back-to-back RBI doubles in the third inning.

NEWS AND NOTES: With just two weeks left in the regular season, members of the Boise front office will be working to assess organizational moves for the 2040 season, including who to protect in the upcoming expansion draft, free agent targets and potential off-season trade partners...sources claim that team owner Francis Nephi Grigg IV has hired a sports marketing firm to work with the team front office, as potential re-branding of some of Boise's minor league teams have been long rumored...additionally, insiders believe Grigg IV may be willing to make some capital expenditures during the off-season, including adjusting the outfield fences and field dimensions, as well as building additional seating to increase the stadium's current 35,000 capacity, tied for lowest in the league with Madison's Shotz Stadium...Boise home games in 2039 are drawing 6% better attendance than last season, while revenue is up 21.9% on a per-game basis from 2038

It better be or else we risk losing that sweet (potato) corporate sponsorship money from Ore-Ida.
