Alan Hedges has officially been called up, well kind of.

After being acquired last season at the deadline, The 5th ranked overall prospect in the Brewster has had a rocky start to his Rosenblatt career.
Many assumed he would be in the big leagues to start this season, however he was sent down to begin the year in AAA.

On April 6th he was sidelined for 5 weeks from a oblique strain.
On July 3rd, he broke his hand sidelining him until just last week.

Now, with 0 plate appearances at the big league level, the team has announced he will travel with the team to Charlotte and be a part of the post-season roster. Of course, he will accumulate no service time for this, but could his first career major league home run come in the post-season, and not even count towards his career statistics? It's likely his first career hit will.

What a Cinderella moment could it be to have your first career hit be a walk off in a playoff game, and have it not be recorded in your official batting statistics.

It's all possible.

Oh, and one other note. Rosenblatt did also call up #75 overall prospect outfielder Kiyoshi Nagai. Nagai was with this team the first month of the season this year, and struggled to a .210/.279/.363 triple slash. He seemed to work it out in AAA finishing the season with a .236/.31/.466, good for a 807 OPS.

Both players will likely be limited to "off the bench" roles but could get their moment in the spotlight.

I did the same last season with Luke Cage. Probably others, too.

Nagai wasn’t very good in AAA either but when you’re praying for a home run there aren’t many with more power.

Unfortunately my park kills home run hitters and Charlotte doesn't do them any favors either. Its likely he will have to end up being traded to a team who's home ball park is a bit more homer friendly.

I really should look to see how many of those there are these days. Seems like everyone has been shifting to more pitching and defense oriented parks.
