Nagai sent down for some seasoning.(63.07)

Post by niles08 » Mon Jun 09, 2025 3:09 pm

The Rosenblatt Bombers today announced that they have sent prospect Kiyoshi Nagai down to AAA Albuquerque and recalled 1B Reynaldo Marroquin from AA Columbus.

Marroquin was batting .346/.429/.673 with 13 home runs in 153 at bats early on this season. Last year he struggled in Rocky Mountain with just a .230/.248/.381 in 113 at bats in his only big league action.

Nagai however, who is ranked as the #48 overall prospect in the Brewster, struggled to get going this season, as he has hit just .210/.279/.363 good for a 70 OPS+ in 124 at bats. Last year at AAA, he had a 119 OPS+ and seemed primed to take over in left field this year. One can imagine it will be only a short time before Nagai is back up in Omaha.

"We just felt that Kiyoshi needs a bit of extra time and work to get his timing down. He will be back with us soon." said GM Justin Niles.

In the meantime, Juan Miranda appears primed to take over for Nagai in the DH spot. Miranda has been a bit of a surprise this year with a 132 OPS+ in 104 at bats and looks to continue that with regular at bats moving forward.
