The Morning Glory 2059.06: Playoff Roster Moves

With the Oysters making the playoffs for the first time under GM Brandon Slouck and for the first time since the team won it all in 2056, the organization worked to set what they hoped would be the best roster they could. With some trades and returning injured players, they had some decisions to make.

Jamie Barber missed about 2 months this year with some minor shoulder and elbow issues. He was activated and will be available out of the bullpen game 2. There was debate if he'd start game 3 but ultimately it was decided to put him in the bullpen. He replaces one of the spots left open by the next players highlighted.

Ommar bin Ayyub was healthy all year but ineffective and will not be on the playoff roster. The hope was his move to the bullpen would play up his already elite pitches but it just didn't. At this point, he probably needs a change of scenery and will more than likely be shopped.

Paul Berry was also left off the playoff roster. The organization has given him multiple chances to step up after being drafted in the 2057 Rule 5 Draft from Charm City. He's compiled a negative through both seasons and may end up non-tendered. Jayden Nicholls moves to the 'pen to take this spot.

1B Dylan Malloch was left off the roster as well. After a solid first year in the Rockies, he never put it together this year. The team has plenty of 1B/DH's that have put it together and he was expendable.

OF Jack Franklin also was left off the roster. Another player with potential to be very useful, Franklin had the worst year of his career. He has some potential to be useful off the bench but the team has several players that can play COF that hit lefties better.

Sources in the organization seem cautiously optimistic about their chances against Jacksonville in the Geoghegan. The team went 6-2 against them in the regular season and managed to drop some weaknesses from the team with their playoff roster now set. This is the strongest and healthiest roster Rocky Mountain has had since GM Brandon Slouck took the helm.
