The Morning Glory 2056.05 - New Territory for the Oysters

Post by GoldenOne » Sun Oct 29, 2023 9:28 am

For the first time in the history of the Rocky Mountain Oysters franchise (22 seasons), the Oysters won 100 games in a season. The Oysters had a slow start to the season, chasing down the likes of Boise and Mexico City and it wasnt until mid-August that they grabbed the Frontier Division lead and held on tight.

The Oysters had finished with 94, 95, and 95 wins for the last three seasons, with the 2055 season seeing the Oysters win their first Division title in franchise history. The pre-season favorites (according to the ootp gods) to have the best record in the BBA with 102 wins, they actually finished the worst of the Division leaders - every other Division leader finished the season with 103 wins while RM finished with 100 wins.

When Phoenix Talons GM Sean Marko was asked about the Oysters and their chances in the playoffs, he said, "Just look at their team. Quite a few guys didnt perform up to their career averages and they still won 100 games. "Only" 100 wins in the Frontier? Really? The Frontier is easily the toughest division in the BBA. 100 wins is more like 110 or 115 in any of those other weak-ass divisions. We had an 86-win team that finished 5th in the Division. Fifth!"

For a franchise that has eight 100-loss seasons in its history, it is nice to see the franchise hit the 100-win mark for once. Now, can the Oysters capitalize on this success and go deep into the playoffs? That's the ultimate question.
