When last season's team led the BBA in Runs Scored but the pitching staff struggled, fans in Colorado screamed for new pitchers. So, GM Golden gave them (ignored) their wish and leaned into having the best offense in the Association.
The Oysters scored 973 Runs in 2055 with their closest competition being the Brewster Champions Charm City Jimmies at 932. The next closest? That would be Montreal at 843 Runs.
And then to lose guys like Pancho Costa (3.7 WAR), Chris McFadden (0.5 WAR) and Thomas Borges (3.1 WAR), the obvious move is to strengthen up you pitching staff.
Well, it wasnt all the pitching staff. The 2055 Oysters saw one of the worst defenses GM Brett Golden has put together in his career, in terms of Defensive Efficiency and Total Errors. The vast majority of those issues can be attributed to both McFadden and Borges.
But that is also a lot of offense to lose in one offseason. The acquisition of 2B Edgardo Encarnación (0.6 WAR) and the signing of OF Aaron Haney (7.9 WAR and the reigning Frick League Sawyer Silk winner), the Oysters should potentially see an increase in their Runs Scored next season and might even break 1,000 Runs for the season, a feat that has not happened since the 2042 season.
Encarnación and Haney should also dramatically increase team defense which should presumably help out the pitching staff.
Its going to be an exciting season for Oysters fans!

The top teams like yours are the ones who have snagged the players who can shine with both the bat and the glove. there's a growing scarcity in those right now which means I fully expect the tip teams to remain so for awhile. I think that's a bigger edge than having the best pitchers, at least right now, BBA-wise.

Maybe. But so far, I feel like my pitchers are liking the improved defense behind them and pitching better this (short) season.Trebro wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:14 pmThe top teams like yours are the ones who have snagged the players who can shine with both the bat and the glove. there's a growing scarcity in those right now which means I fully expect the tip teams to remain so for awhile.
