It was reported here just a few weeks ago that CF Resurrection Santos III had been optioned to AAA Albuquerque. In a move that was seen as an overly obvious service-time manipulation move - Santos was a Sawyer Silk candidate at the time - Santos is now back with the Oysters,

The move comes as the Oysters have gone 4-4 in August and seen their 9-game lead in the Frontier Division dwindle down to only 5 games.

But, it hasnt been the Oyster offense that has been the problem while Santos was away from the team. During that timeframe, 1B/3B Malik bin Mazin has won a JL Player of the Week award and is hitting .429/.456/.825 in August. During that same timeframe, OF Federico Linares, who filled in for Santos in CF, has gone .382/.414/.636.

The Pitching staff has been the issue during Santos's absence. More specifically, the starting rotation has seemed to have struggled. Even the venerated Alaric Wullenweber found himself giving up 8 earned runs in 3.0 innings to the Charlotte Cougars. Three other members of the starting rotation have ERAs of over 14.00 in the last 2 starts.

Maybe its the presence of Santos that have the pitching staff rattled. We'll see. Santos's return certainly wont hurt though.
