The Morning Glory 2055.04 - Wait, What?

Post by GoldenOne » Fri Jul 14, 2023 5:03 pm

In a recent article, it was reported that Oysters GM Brett Golden has already sent Sawyer Silk-candidate OF Resurrection Santos III down to AAA Albuquerque.

If that didnt really catch your attention the first time you read that, maybe this will: Santos is currently leading all of the BBA with a 6.1 WAR. (He
finished the 2054 season with a 6.2 WAR.) He has a slash line of .333/.383/.563 as the lead-off hitter for the Oysters against RHPs and generally the #8 hitter against LHPs. Santos has 12 SBs in 15 attempts and is rated as a 12 defensively as a centerfielder. THAT'S ON A SCALE OF 1-10! He's a 12. In CF!

Why, just why would that dumbass Golden send this player down to AAA at this point in the season?

Well, we asked him that very same question. His response - "I consulted my Oracle [Sidebar: Investigations continue as to who this "Oracle" is.] and, well, he pointed out that we're here for a good time AND a long time. That's all I can say."

Since we werent getting any direct answers from Golden, we looked at things a little more. Santos currently has 2 years and 118 days of Service Time. While we cant envision GM Golden leaving Santos down in AAA for 53 days, he has seemed to be going a little bit crazy these days. With a 10-game lead in the Division and the next two weeks seeing games against San Antonio, Phoenix, Calgary, and Charlotte, and a few other weeks on the schedule that look like a possible time to send Santos back down for a bit, it certainly seems like Golden is pushing to make sure Santos will be a Super Two guy when it comes time for Arbitration.

Like most, I follow baseball for the service time manipulation.
