ocky Mountain GM Brett Golden has never been afraid of trading, especially if it can help his team. Take for instance, just this season. Only weeks after taking over and moving the Chilis to Colorado and renaming the team the Oysters, he traded uber-stud, CF Hector Cano, Jr. to the Des Moines Kernels for SP Slobodan Omeragic, 3B Malik bin Mazin, and SP Mal Knapp. When asked by a disappointed new fan base, GM Golden replied simply, "I think it made our team better overall."

Hard to agree based on the year Cano is having, but that can also be attributed to the All Star players surrounding him in Des Moines.

While there have been some other trades made by Golden this season, this latest trade with the Boise Spuds certainly turned some heads around the league. The Oysters received 29 year old SP Bernie Stuart and P Ken Steele in exchange for SP Mal Knapp, 3B Carlos Gutierrez, RP Nike MacRobb, and RP Thomas Strunk.

With current SPs Jamie Barber and Mica Harrington, currently on the IL and in AAA, respectively, expected to be on the team for Opening Day of 2054, will the Oysters have the rotation to beat next season?

Not to mention SP Antonio Hernandez will be back. And, with the rumors that Stephen Best has been offered an extension, its almost mind-boggling that Best would most likely be the team's #5 starter on Opening Day!

GM Golden had this to say about moving forward, "The old adage is that you can never have too much pitching. We'll see."
