Poblanotes 49.7- End of the Pete Brace Trilogy

Post by chicoruiz » Sun Feb 06, 2022 7:24 pm

Dad,

Well, you can air out my old bedroom… the season is over and I’m coming home. And if I’m not covered in glory, at least I’m not covered in shit like I thought I would be in my last letter.

I mean, no one is going to be mistaking me for an MVP candidate, but a little bit of a September blossoming got my batting average up to about .220 and my WAR up into positive territory (I’ll explain what WAR is when I get home). Honestly, none of our middle infielders did much better.

Of course, that means that our GM, Chico Ruiz, will be in the free agent market this winter, but honestly, given his track record I feel like I would have a fighting chance against anyone he manages to bring in. I mean, he just traded one of our best players for a knuckleball pitcher whose ERA approached four digits.

Anyway, my plan to quit baseball and go back to college is on hold for now…. On second thought, after looking at my stats again, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to take a class or two this winter…
