El Paso 2045 Farm System Review, pt.3 (2046-4)

Topeka Thunderbears 74-66 (A ball)

In a strong West Central division 74 wins was only good enough for fourth place as Topeka missed the post season for the 10th time in eleven seasons. A solid season though, the third 70+ win season in the last four seasons, with double digit wins each month and only July at 12-17 being a poor month. The team’s 92 stolen bases led the PL and was third in the entire Charley Pegler league while Thunderbears were second in the PL in batting average (.252), hits (1200) and WAR (22.0) so not exactly a completely lost season.

Roberto Abreu had a good first season in A ball, leading the team with an 11-5 record, striking out 120 batters and posting a 2.4 WAR. George Goodman , a decent starting pitcher in his rookie year, went into the bullpen in 2045 in Topeka and pitched in 72 games. 114 K’s and 12 saves was good for him, but he’ll really have to improve on the 10-14 record if he wants to progress as a stopper in the organisation. Felix Gonzalez record of 6-9 wasn’t great but he had some good stats, a team leading 158 K’s, a 9.99 K/9, a 1.19 WHIP and limiting opponents to a 0.229 batting average. Unfortunately, just six days before the end of the season he ruptured his ulnar Collateral ligament, and it will be 2047 before he can pitch again.

Left Fielder Tony Casillas swung the bat like a demon, his .281/.346/.461 slash line led the team in all three categories. He also led the team with 75 runs and 10 triples. Steve Kasper was productive with the bat as well, 134 hits and 219 total bases with included a team leading 19 homers. All of that produced a team leading 80 RBI as well. Mario Garcia stole 22 bases, best in Topeka, probably helped by his team leading 66 walks
