June 1st vs Sioux City Xplorers L 3-17
Xplorers only had 15 hits but they scored at least two runs in six of the nine innings, Columbus despite leading 1-0 after one ended up making more errors (4) than runs (3). Bill Burke went 2-5 driving in two of the three runs, Cecilio Gaona’s claim to ‘fame’ was working two of the team’s three walks. The Patriot Pandas managed to share the 17 runs given up among four pitchers
June 2nd vs Sioux City Xplorers L 6-7
Sioux City were leading 5-0 when Columbus scored their first two runs in the fifth innings and that’s really as close as they got until they added two runs in the eighth. Mike Sears went 3-5 and made them count driving in four runs while Anrrique Guincho went 3-5 and failed to trouble the scorers. Cecilio Gaona went 3-6, driving one run in and scoring three runs from the lead-off spot.
June 3rd @ Anderson Joes L 4-5 (F/10)
The Patriot Pandas were leading 3-1 after the first innings but two runs in the sixth gave the Joes a 4-3 lead. A Columbus run in the seventh tied it up ands sent us to extras before Anderson walked it off with a solo homer in the 10th. Norberto Acuna went 2-5, scoring twice and driving three runs in thanks to hitting his 11th & 12th homers of the season. Cecilio Gaona went 3-4, scoring just once.
June 4th @ Anderson Joes W 10-2
The Patriot Pandas snapped the losing streak in the second game of the series with Joes. Leading 4-2 going into the final innings Columbus made sure with six runs in the ninth. Carlos Ortiz went 2-4, scoring twice and driving three runs in, Cecilio Gaona went 2-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving three runs in while John Flores went 1-3 with a walk, turning that into two runs and two RBI. Ray Longley went seven innings to improve his record to 4-1 despite walking four.
June 5th @ Anderson Joes W 8-6
Columbus clinched the series win with four runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth which finally left Anderson behind. Bill Burke went 4-5 with two runs scored and two RBI while Bernardo Gomez went 2-5, scoring once and driving four runs in. Antonio Martinez collected his eighth save despite walking two of the three batters he faced
June 6th Warren Cox League All-Star Game
Mike Sears was the Patriot Pandas only representative in the game, he came in as a sixth innings pinch-hitter and failed to get a hit in two AB’s.
June 7th vs Burlington Big Eyed Fish W 10-6
Burlington started with a bang scoring five times in the first innings, but the Patriot Pandas had it back to 5-5 by the end of the fifth innings. The Patriot Pandas wrapped the win up with five more runs spread over the seventh & eighth innings. Mike Sears hit his eighth homer of 2045 and really cut loose with a 5-5 day, ending up with three runs scored and six RBI. Anrrique Guincho went 2-2 with two walks, driving two runs in. Jesus O’Day pitched the last four innings, giving up two hits and a run while striking out three to improve his record to 4-6
