Sim 9: A winning sim but Columbus getting detached

May 25th vs Charleston Clippers L 2-3
The Patriot Pandas scored twice in the first innings and then fell asleep allowing the Clippers to score in the seventh and eighth innings to snatch a win. Norberto Acuna hit his 10th homer of the season to score all Columbus’ runs and Jesus O’Day got pegged with the loss to drop his record to 3-6

May 26th vs Charleston Clippers W 5-4
Up 2-1 in the second innings and then down 2-3 Columbus finally settled it with three runs in the seventh. That was enough for the win despite a late Clippers run. Both sides had eight hits each and in the Patriot Pandas case it was one hit each for eight players. All four were scored by different players and all were driven in by different plays too.

May 27th vs Charleston Clippers L 1-7
The final game of the series clinched the series for Charleston with an easy win. Despite the score being level at 1-1 after three innings it ran away from the Patriot Pandas who could only manage one run, three hits and two errors. Cecilio Gaona was the only Columbus player to get an extra base hit (3rd innings double) and that drove in Nick Lewis for our only run.

May 28th @ Memphis Chicks W 10-1
Heading off to Memphis the Patriot Pandas opened with four runs in the first and four runs in the second to wrap up the win, the Chicks only run came in the bottom of the ninth innings. Doubles from Alejandro Jaquez and Anrrique Guincho, both with the bases loaded, cleared the bases each time. Mike Sears managed 3-3 with a walk and scored twice from that. Jose Macel only lasted an innings before going off injured, Earl Hutchinson took over. Despite allowing three walks he wasn’t troubled otherwise and picked up his first ever AA win.

May 29th @ Memphis Chicks W 7-3
The game was tied at 3-3 after four innings before a run in the sixth and a final three from Columbus in the seventh squared off the win for the Patriot Pandas. Zivon Baichenko went 2-2 with two walks, scoring once while Mike Sears went 2-3 with a walk scoring once and driving another two runs in. Kunimichi Ogasahara pitched five innings to notch his fifth win while Antonio Martinez got the last batter out to claim his seventh save.

May 30th @ Memphis Chicks W 4-2
Columbus completed the sweep of Memphis leaving the season series at 6-1 in favour of the Patriot Pandas. Three runs in the first innings by Columbus virtually settled the game, all coming from a Zivon Baichenko 3-run homer. Carlos Ortiz went 3-4, scoring just the once. Ray Longley struck out eight in 6.1 innings to improve his record to 3-1.

May 31st vs Sioux City Xplorers L 6-8 (F/11)
After three good wins it was a disappointment to come home and lose to Sioux City. The Patriot Pandas were 3-0 up after just one innings but fell 3-4 behind after six innings. Columbus managed to take the game to extras but four runs for Xplorers in the 11th innings was too much for Columbus to come back from. Bill Burke hit a 2-run homer in the first and a double in the bottom of the 11th drove two more runs in, but ultimately not enough. Mike Sears was also on form, going 3-5 with two doubles and a solo homer, scoring twice but only getting one RBI.
