Sim 8: Only one win in six but Topeka just two games back

May 18th vs Folsom Foxhounds W 3-2
In the first meeting of the season with Folsom the Thunderbears scored two in the bottom of the first and another run in the seventh proved to be a much-needed insurance marker. Three players, Cesar Lucero, John Snow & Nigel Roberts all went 2-4 with Snow getting two RBI and Lucero scoring once.

May 20th vs Folsom Foxhounds L 1-5
The second Folsom game was played as part of a double-header. Both teams got a run in the third innings, but Topeka failed to add anything after that while the Foxhounds gradually kept the scoreboard ticking over. Miguel Arreola went 3-4 while Clark Pierce drove in Tony Casillas for Topeka’s only run. Bob Rowland took the loss to drop his record to 2-2.

May 20th vs Folsom Foxhounds L 4-6
In the nightcap both teams shared eight hits each, but the Foxhounds had all their six runs before Topeka even opened their account in the bottom of the fifth. Takeshi Suzuki hit his third homer of 2045 and John Snow also went 2-4, driving a run in. Ken Gallagher only went four innings after giving up five hits & five runs while striking out five as well.

May 21st @ Springdale Roosters L 1-2
Topeka opened the scoring in the first innings at Springdale but couldn’t hold the lead and gave up the winning run in the eighth innings. Thunderbears only managed three hits, Mario Garcia driving in Cesar Lucero for their only run. George Goodman picked up the loss, dropping his record to 3-5

May 22nd @ Springdale Roosters L 2-4
Two runs in the second and two more in the fifth (on only five hits) by Roosters was enough to extend Thunderbears losing streak to four games. Topeka supplemented their six hits with eight walks but did precious little with them. John Snow and Miguel Arreola scored Thunderbears two runs.

May 23rd @ Springdale Roosters L 2-3
Springdale completed the sweep in a close final game. Topeka were leading 2-1 going into the bottom of the ninth when Springdale hit a 2-run walk-off homer to ruin Topeka’s day and extend their losing streak to five. Steve Kasper went 2-4 including a solo homer, Xi-wang Hong blew his second save on that homer and collected his first loss of 2045.
