Sim 8: Columbus with only two wins ain’t going nowhere

May 18th vs Duluth Dragons L 2-4
Columbus scored in the first innings but two runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth by the Dragons sealed their win. Bill Burke, back at Columbus after covering Matt Chambers injury in Triple-A, got two of Patriot Pandas four hits and scored once.

May 19th vs Duluth Dragons L 3-7
Duluth led 4-0 when both sides had a rush of scoring and managed three runs each in the ninth innings. Mike Sears got two of Columbus’ six hits, including their only EBH, a double. Ray Longley struck out seven but still picked up his first loss of the season.

May 20th vs Duluth Dragons L 7-9
Duluth completed the sweep in the final game of the series despite the Patriot Pandas scoring seven times on just five hits. Seven runs by Dragons in the eighth innings settled the match. Bill Burke went 2-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in three runs while Anrrique Guincho went 2-4, scoring one and collecting three RBI as well. Jesus O’Day picked up his fifth blown save as well as dropping his record to 3-5.

May 21st @ Trenton Generals W 8-7 (F/14)
The Generals scored six runs in the second innings, but five runs by Columbus had put them 7-6 up. A run scrambled home by Trenton in the bottom of the ninth sent us to extras and we had to wait until the 14th innings for it to be decided, Martin Romero driving in the winning run. Both Bill Burke & Mike Sears went 3-6 with a walk each, both scoring twice while Anrrique Guincho went 2-6 adding two more runs. Antonio Martinez, the sixth Patriot Panda on the mound, took the win after pitching 5.1 innings and only allowing four hits while striking out three batters.

May 22nd @ Trenton Generals L 7-8
The second game ended up 8-7 as well but we got it done in regulation. Columbus outhit Trenton 16-15 but the Generals scored an unanswered run in both the eighth & ninth innings to sneak past the Patriot Pandas. Mike Sears went 4-5 scoring three times and picking up a RBI on his sixth homer of 2045. Norberto Acuna & Alejandro Jaquez both drove in two runs. Two Columbus relievers managed to pick up blown saves.

May23rd @ Trenton Generals W 9-0
The Patriot Pandas finally came good in the final game of the sim, leading 2-0 from the first innings, they wrapped the win up with six runs in the eighth. Sears was the man again going 3-5 with a run and an RBI while Kunimichi Ogasahara pitched into the sixth innings, striking out seven and improving his record to 4-3.
