Sim 1: Coyotes win three of five road games

Apr 1st @ Quincy Firedancers W 11-3
Apr 2nd @ Quincy Firedancers W 9-2
Apr 3rd @ Quincy Firedancers W 10-7
Apr 4th @ Missouri Blues L 2-3
Apr 5th @Missouri Blues L 2-8

In Albuquerque’s first series of 2045 they swept Portland’s affiliate, Quincy, in three games. Both sides scored in the first innings in the season opener, but Coyotes were leading 5-2 when Coyotes put it to bed in the eighth innings. 12 men entered the batter’s box and six came around to score as Albuquerque ruined the Firedancers home opener. Coyote’s top four in the lineup, Aloisio Prudente, Luis Ayla, Matt Chambers & Fernando Casimiro bagged 11 of the team’s 14 hits, scored six times and drove in 10 runs. Josh Hayworth pitched seven innings and struckout seven as he took the win. Game two was over in a flash as Albuquerque scored three runs in the first and six in the second innings. Arturo Huerta went 3-5, scoring twice while Prudente & Avila added three more RBI each to their tally. Francisco Perez pitched into the seventh to claim his first win of 2045. The series’ final game went the same way, with tied at 3-3 after five, the Coyotes broke it open in the sixth. Three runs were already in when Matt Chambers, obviously smarting from his demotion from the BBA, smashed a Grand Slam to finish the game as a contest. Casimiro only had a walk and a hit, but his hit was a 3-run homer. Joe Jones gave up seven hits, two walks and three runs while striking out six, leaving him 2-0 in career Triple-A starts.

Things weren’t so good in Missouri though, home of Brooklyn’s affiliate. Opening the scoring with two runs in the second innings, Coyotes led 2-1 going into the bottom of the ninth, but Mike Allain coughed up a 2-run walkoff homer. Huerta & Chambers both went 2-4 but only Huerta troubled the scorers, scoring a run. Taito Kimmonen’s six innings of one-run baseball was wasted by the bullpen. The Blues came harder at Coyotes in game two, five runs in the sixth innings helped to give them an 8-0 lead before Albuquerque finally got on the board in the eighth innings thanks to a Luis Ayla 2-run shot. Chet Dickinson didn’t cover himself with glory after his demotion from the BBA, allowing 10 hits & seven runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
