We said at the start of the season it was a case of wait and see what we’ve got, due to 22 of the roster being either 2043 draft picks or IFA/scouting finds. Well, it turned out we had a pretty good squad and for most of the season the Polar Bears were in the race for the Post Season. The pitching was the star, most of the pitching staff’s stats were in the top three of the HL in the rookie league, the downside was the batting wasn’t as hot, a lot of their stats rated down around 9th, 10th or 11th in the HL. Anchorage finished despite the disparity with their third highest win total in their nine-year history (45 wins last year, 43 back in 2036) and with their total attendance over 100,000 for the fourth straight year.

The Polar Bears got off to a hot start, going 5-1 in May when the league first started, and were 10-4 over the first half of June. The wheels sorta came off then as they went 3-9 in the run-up to the June 30th All Star game, finishing the month 13-13. In July they found it difficult to string any consistency together and it took a 5-2 final week of the month to ensure they finished over .500 for the month (16-12). It was a big push in the two weeks of August that almost pulled them towards a post season berth. Going 7-1 they outscored their opponents 71-23, but that spell in late June and early July that had dropped them out of a second consecutive post season.
