Alvarez picks up Opening Day Award

Thursday, 2nd April 2043, Wichita Globe: The player with the best game score on Opening Day was Wichita’s DH 26-yr-old Luis Alvarez with a score of 119. And no wonder as he had launched three homers on Opening Day yesterday, tying an Aviators record set on August 10th , 2038 by Alvin Dickinson who went 4-5 against Mexico City with three homers and five RBI.

Alvarez was born in Honduras in 2016 and after three years at Mashed (now Sydney Wallabies) he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2034 draft (122 overall) by the California Crusaders. He slowly worked his way through their minor leagues system mainly at first or second base before making his BBA debut in 2039, making 42 appearances for the Crusaders. In the 2039 BBA Expansion Draft he was picked up 11th overall by Charlotte. He worked hard to return to the BBA with the Cougars and finally got 26 appearances for Charlotte in 2041. As we rolled in 2042 Wichita picked him off waivers and he made 52 BBA appearances at second as well 30 better defensive performances at first.

As 2043 started the team decided that his best use would be at DH and what a start to 2043 he made there. A 3-run homer in the first innings, another 3-run homer in the second innings and a solo homer in the sixth innings on Opening Day. Added to that was 2-out walks in both the fourth & eighth innings and you could see why he got a game score of 119

Quite a few of them seem to have celebrated too much that night and forgot to come the next few days
