ALBUQUERQUE COYOTES (Triple-A)

Albuquerque went 68-76 in 2041, their second losing season on the trot, and they’re on the way to their third if the first week is anything to go by.

3-game series @ Black Hills Rally (California affiliate)

In game one it looked like a 3-run seventh innings which put Coyotes 5-4 up had perhaps won the game but the Rally lived up to their name and a two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth gave Black Hills a 6-5 win in their home opener. Jose Flores Carlos was the Coyotes star going 3 for 3.
Game two saw Coyotes once more take a lead, this time they were 5-1 up in the fifth. A three-run sixth pulled the game back to 5-4, but there was no successful rally this time and the series was level at one. Mattias Lovlien went 5.1 innings and recorded Albuquerque’s first win of the season.
Game three saw the series go to Black Hills as they again turned a two-run deficit into a 3-2 win with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Kevin Morris hit his first homer of 2042.

4/2 @Black Hills W 5-4

3-game series @Winnipeg Goldeyes (Edmonton affiliate)

This wasn’t a series for the Coyotes, in Game one they were 6-0 down to the Goldeyes before they scored two in the top of the eighth to at least get on the board in a 6-2 loss. Wally Poole went 2-4 with 2 RBI.
Game two was marginally better even though Winnipeg hit three in the bottom of the first. Coyotes got their act together and runs in the fourth & the eighth brought them close. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get that final run and the home team took the game 3-2. Leadoff man Fred Thompson went 2-5 and scored both Albuquerque runs.
Game three sealed the sweep for Winnipeg. Three runs for Albuquerque in the fifth saw the Coyotes take a 4-1 lead, but again they couldn’t hold the lead. Two runs in the bottom of the fifth closed the gap to one and a three-run seventh finished off a 6-4 win. Thompson went 2-5 again with a run & a RBI while the DH Ramon Casas went 2-4 with a run & two RBI

4/4 @Winnipeg L 2-6
4/5 @Winnipeg L 2-3
4/6 @Winnipeg L 4-6
Standings as at April 6th
