FPL : It's a wrap for 2041 (2042-12)

Palm Bay record win tally

It might have been a mediocre middle period of the 2041 FPL season for Palm Bay, but winning five out of their last six fixtures gave them a huge boost and left them with an 18-10 record, their best ever, surpassing the 17-11 tally they posted in their inaugural season in 2035.

The final five wins included a 10-5 success over eventual division winner Melbourne Storm in what was an impressive 2041 campaign for the Aviators. The players have now headed back to their minor league teams for the 2042 season, a lot of them will be in Double-A for Columbus. The Brown Sox were the only team in the Wichita franchise with a winning record (74-66) in 2041 and given the quality of players heading there from Palm Bay they must be in with a big shout of doing better in 2042.

LF Aloisio Prudente, Aviators’ 2041 Batter of the Year

23-yr-old Aloisio made 22 FPL appearances in 2041 and led the team in SLG (.602), OPS (1.008), walks (14), total bases (50), EBH (12), ISO (.289) and WOBA (.407). A pretty comprehensive offensive display by the left fielder who will be a starter in Columbus in 2042. He was a second round draft pick (66th overall) in 2041 and started his pro career in Double-A Columbus and there is a good chance that he will finish the year getting his first taste of Triple-A in Albuquerque in only his second pro season.

SP Taito Kimmonen, Aviators’ 2041 Pitcher of the Year

23-yr-old Taito was a 2035 minor league free agent signing out of Hungary. He made six starts in this season’s FPL leading the team in K/BB (2.6), K/9 (7.6), IP (30.2) and ERA (4.11). He also came in second in many other categories. He’s currently in Albuquerque and is looking to spend his second full year there in 2042, it’s a difficult situation there really. Taito is not really cutting it at Triple-A at the moment yet he’s in danger of being passed by pitchers coming up from Columbus; it’s up to him now to make good on his good form in this year’s FPL, it could be a make or break season coming up.

SS Kinara Cobley & 2B Cesar Lucero, Aviators’ 2041 Double-play combo of the Year

Kinara and Cesar turned 19 double plays together in this year’s FPL and made just three errors between them in their combined 43 games. Kinara, a 2036 signing out of South Africa, spent last year at Columbus where he was involved in 74 DP’s and posted a +7.0 ZR at SS. Cesar, a 12th round draft pick in 2037, was in A ball Topeka last year, but will now get his promotion to Columbus to try and continue his DP combo act with Kinara. He will however have to buck his ideas up at second base if he wants to stick in the organisation, in Topeka he posted a -7.1 ZR and even in Palm Bay he owned a -2.3 ZR, neither will see a very long career with us unfortunately.

Nicely done, Nigel. I enjoyed following the Aviators through their FPL campaign. I hope Kimmonen puts things together now.
