The Wichita Aviators second baseman, stud, Gabriel Talamante, has been shelved for the remainder of the 2039 season with a strained rib cage.
The thirty-one year old, has consistently mashed for the Aviators since coming over from Louisville (as a free agent), prior to the 2038 season, with 83 homeruns, and superlative defense at the keystone position.
The Aviators tried out Calvin Clohessey at second to fill in for Talamante for a week, but his defence was inexplicably bad, so the Aviaotrs have turned to Ismael Pena to fill the void.
"We're only gonna keep one of Calvin and Ismael next year,"confirmed the Genius," And up to a month ago, I would have told you that the job was Clohessey's...now, I'm not so sure."
"You gotta rake, or your position is there for the 'take'."
In other news, the Aviators expect to sweep their upcoming three day, six game road trip against the Mexico Aztecs, to solidify their wildcard credentials.
The Aviators have already broken their team record for wins in a single season, with ten games remaining in 2039.
