2038.04 On A Higher Plane Pitching staff taking shape

Post by felipe » Tue Mar 12, 2019 5:43 pm

The Genius from Wichita has remade his pitching staff, to the detriment of the rest of the BBA.

The maverick Genius now has fifteen very capable pitchers in which to make an outstanding staff...err...slightly better than awful staff.

Projected rotation:
1) Hiroyuki Rin...this thirty-two year old BBA veteran is destined to go down in history as the greatest Aviator hurler of all time...if he maintains his 33.3 % QS rate from 2037, he's a lead pipe cinch.
2) Hirotada Miura was spare parts in Omaha, but he's a 15 game winner who twirled more than 230 innings for the Hawks last season.
3) Twenty-eight year old Robbie O'Bryan throws hard, and he's a lefty...so that's ok.
4) T-Bone Sanchez was brought to the Aviators because he eats innings, and that's just what he's gonna do.
5) Villegas, Hes, Ortiz, or Vazquez...really who can tell? It's likely that they will all start at some point in 2038, and when they're not starting, they'll likely be employed in long relief, or more likely than that, the disabled list.

At least the Aviators have eight real live starters to choose from in 2038, and not a collection of relievers that they are trying to stretch out the innings for.

Closer: Abe Colbert Jr....this will be a season long audition/experiment that we've been avoiding for years...but we finally admit it, he just can't start anymore...and if he sucks this season? Well...it likely won't matter much.

Setup: Martin Torres...he's been ok, but I think he should do better...we will see this year

Setup 2: Lane Aldridge should be lights out here...he didn't really get it done as a starter...but he may always go back there.

Relievers:

Kid Cherono was the staff workhorse last year, and was phenomenal when not asked to start. He will be relied on heavily again for those middle bridge innings.

Dan West has been slowly dying thanks to our ballpark factors and his low movement, so here's hoping moving the fences back will help him out. He's got the rest of the tools to do well.

The Aviators really missed Gonzalo Fajardo in 2037 when he spent the season on the DL. I don't know how he does it, but he's a consistent out getter for the Fly Boys.

The last contender for a spot on the big league staff is ancient Antonio Gonzales...he just hasn't been the same since his torn rotator cuff in 2035.

Basically, the Aviators can look forward to a lot of mediocre staff flexibility in 2038.

Season tickets on sale now - raised $2.50/game from last year!
