2037.22...On A Higher Plane...Wichita continues to terrify the BBA

Post by felipe » Fri Jan 25, 2019 9:03 am

The Wichita Aviators are continuing their reign of terror in the BBA, plunking several more batters, but not receiving any retribution.

On July 21, (a mere two days after their last donnybrook, where the Aviators tore the clubhouse door off its hinges to get at the Talon players), the Aviators plunked two more Talon, during their 5-4 comeback victory.

After Talon catcher, Andres Martinez, had homered in his last at bat, Aviator 42 year old reliever Vincent Acevedo, drilled the backstop in the ribs in the top of the sixth, after just missing his head with his first pitch of the at-bat.

"I knew something was up," confirmed Martinez," I looked over at their dugout as I walked up to the plate, and they were all on the top step, the whole team...and if you can believe it, they were even more vulgar than usual with their insults...after the last game, when I saw (and felt) their tin-foiled knuckles, and saw the rolls of quarters spilling...well...lets just say I just took my base quietly...I still can't comb my hair."

In the bottom of the sixth, Aviator catcher Don Logan, was fighting off a two strike count for three pitches, before he leaned into a pitch from Jesus Tonche to take a free pass.

"It sure was funny," grinned Logan," Jesus was screaming in fright, I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to...poor bastard...he was scared witless."

In the top of the ninth, with the Aviators down 4-3, reliever Chubby Perkins, plunked Brendan Kerndl with his first pitch, and the Aviators all looked expectantly at the Talon dugout...to see nothing.

"I knew we were going to win right there," grinned Perkins," When they didn't answer the bell, I knew they were beaten...we just had to finish them off."

The Aviators rallied for the walk off win in the bottom of the ninth.

"You know what, we won the series," whined Talon alcoholic Bakitski," All this extracurricular garbage? We don't need or want it."

On July 27, The Aviators narrowly lost to Montreal 3-2, but starter Aldo Hes managed to drill Etienne LaFitte to lead off the fourth inning.

"I was just trying to wake the boys up," grinned Hes," Ramirez had ended two innings for us with men on base by striking out...and we'd only played three innings. I figured it was time to dance."

LaFitte wanted no part of it," You only had to see some of the highlights from the recent Aviaotr games to know that you didn't want to give these animals any excuses to get rough...all those post game interview images of Talon and Aztec players with black puffy closed eyes, and smashed in noses...all those clips of the Genius manhandling guys...the way they tore down the Talon flag from the pole and burned it on the pitchers mound...I mean, I'm a millionaire...I don't need to get caught up in stuff like that."

The Aviators sit at 53-50, 9 games behind the Talon for first in the Sun Belt Division, but sitting at fifth overall, 4.5 games behind the fourth place/first wild card 58-46 Las Vegas Hustlers, and ahead of the 51-52 Robins, 50-54 Nashville, 49-54 Montreal, 49-56 New Orleans and the 48-56 Louisville.

They don't call the Aviators' hurlers "The Pitching Strafe" for nothing.
