In a testament to Wichita Aviators Genius, GM Hopkins', gamesmanship, the Aviators dropped six straight games to close out July and open August.

"It was getting too boring," The Genius explained," We were starting to pull away from the herd...now, its much more interesting."

The gap has certainly tightened up for the last two wild card spots, and with the Aviators' only having 19 home games (out of 53) remaining, the squad is clearly behind the eight ball.

The losing streak coincides with the Genius decision to send slugging first baseman, Juan Perez back to AAA when elder statesman Brian Clough, returned from his six week injury layoff.

"Totally conincidental," grinned the Genius," Perez wasn't doing that awesome...although...maybe he could play third base...hmmmm..."

The playoff race is truly on, and for the first time all season, the Johnson League is worth paying attention to.
